OVER-TRAINING IS A MYTH

OVER-TRAINING IS A MYTH

FIRST OFF WHAT IS OVER-TRAINING?

« Over-Training » is a made up word that people like to use so they can have an excuese for a half-ass workout. (CNS fatigue is a whole different story however). But the over-training im reffering to here in this article is the most common form of over-training talked about. (i.e over-training a muscle group in a single workout). That is complete rubbish..

I THINK IM OVER-TRAINING BECAUSE IM NOT GETTING ANY RESULTS

No you are not over-training. Seriously there is no such thing, if anything you are just under-eating, under-resting and under-sleeping! Like I mentioned above over-training your CNS (central nervous system) is a different story, but no one will even really come close to that point or even ever have to worry, this can technically be classed as over-training, so in a way over-training is real in some sense but then again that would be caused by under-eating, under-resting and under-sleeping, not giving your body and CNS the rest and recovery it needs. But doing 20 sets for biceps in a single workout? No that is not over-training, thats a bloody good bicep workout! Over-training a single muscle group in a single workout? Forget it. « but bro you should never do more than 12 sets for chest otherwise you will be over-training it » (never listen to anyone who tells you this kind of nonsense).

EVERYONE WHO IS AFRAID OF OVER-TRAINING USUALLY ENDS UP UNDER-TRAINING

This is were people who think they are over-training actually fall into the category of under-training. Do 100 sets on chest if you really want to, that is not over-training! (as long as you get in enough food, rest, sleep before you train that muscle again) To me over-training is just an excuse to have a half-ass workout. Everyone is always afraid of  »over-training » so they don’t train with enough volume! They only do 6 sets on biceps because they are afraid of over-training them if they do any more. Every body part should be beaten into senseless submission set after set until the very last synapse sputters and dies. You will never reach that point if you are afraid of over-training. Never be afraid of over-training, be afraid of under-eating, under-resting and under-sleeping. Under-recovery is the problem, over-training is not!

MORAL OF THE STORY?

Forget this nonesense of « over-training » a muscle group in a single workout, just train hard and train with VOLUME!
