Create the mindset you need to succeed!
I believe that your mindset is certainly the most important aspect of discipline when it comes to achieving your goals. Your mind controls everything in the human body. Thus, a good mindset can create a successful person especially when it comes to fitness.

To begin your fitness journey, you must set S.M.A.R.T. (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Timely) goals. Be certain about what you want to achieve and keep that in mind every single day of your life until you achieve it. Once achieved, it is time to set another goal and keep this cycle going forever!
Easier said than done, right? True! That is why it is important to find something that inspires and motivates you. Below are a few examples of how I continue to motivate myself throughout my fitness journey.
- Take a before photo of yourself (the uglier the better) and choose a photo from the internet of someone with the body that is close to what you want to achieve. Once you have them both, find a place to display them both somewhere in your room. Believe that you can create your own destiny and nothing will stand in your way!
- Be inspired by the famous people who have failed in their lives but were still able to succeed and even be known worldwide such as Michael Jordan, Arnold Schwarzenegger or Tiger Woods. Following the true life stories of their hardships and successes will inspire you to overcome obstacles that may be in your way. You must love what you are doing and never doubt yourself if want to achieve something great.
- Challenge your friends to a competition similar to a Biggest Loser/Gainer contest. There should be some sort of a prize but it does not have to be monetary. The focus should always be on the fun of the challenge and pride in accomplishing your goal.
By implementing at least one of these three examples you will be able to have the positive mindset you need to seek out and accomplish your goals and push it to the limit. Without true dedication, you will always find an excuse to skip the few last reps, sets or even an entire workout.
The ultimate test of the mind…Nutrition!
Nutrition is probably the toughest part of reaching your goals. Eating old canned tuna and tasteless chicken breast all year round is certainly not the easiest thing to do. Avoiding certain food all the time is even more exhausting. You see your friends eating burgers and drinking coke while you are trying to shovel another bowl of oats down your stomach.
